Central Objectives:
• Students will be able to define, describe, and discuss the work of stop-motion animators.
• Students will be able to define, describe and discuss the specific visual art media used to create stop-motion animated films.
• Students will be able to create a variety of works of art and stop motion animations inspired by the work
of Ezra Wube, Ainslie Henderson, and Allison Schulnik using, pencils, oil pastels, watercolor paint, clay
, and collage and discuss those techniques.
• Students will be able to examine and practice painting, drawing, sculpting, collage and stop-motion
animation techniques.
• Students will practice giving productive feedback through group reflections.
• Students will be able to complete several writing activities based on the work of Ezra Wube, Ainslie
Henderson, and Allison Schulnik
During this residency program, students will be able to define, discuss, and explore a variety of visual
arts and digital media, using project-based learning. These projects will be designed around the stop-motion
animation work of contemporary artists, Ezra Wube, Ainslie Henderson, and Allison Schulnik. Students will explore
and learn about the artist's techniques, processes, and inspirations. Students will be able to learn about the specific
visual art media used in the stop-motion animations, either collaboratively or through group activities. Students will
also be able to work hands-on to create their pieces of art inspired by these contemporary stop-motion
animation artists. Students will be introduced to techniques of working with drawing pencils, oil pastels, watercolor
paint, collage, and sculpting to interpret in digital media. This curriculum reinforces CCLS in the visual arts and
ELA. Using writing with art and art workshops students will develop visual literacy and deepen observational,
language, studio art skills, and digital media technology. All art activities will be scaffolded to develop and strengthen
studio art-making, digital media, and writing skills.
Outcomes:
• Students will have a portfolio of stop-motion animation-inspired artwork.

• Students will be able to define, describe, and discuss the processes involved in the stop motion animations
of Ezra Wube, Ainslie Henderson, and Allison Schulnik.
• Students will discuss creating works of art with painting, drawing, sculpting, collage and stop-motion
animation techniques and discuss those techniques.
• Students will be able to improve the quality of their work based on peer feedback.
• Students will have successfully bonded and connected to create an artistic community.
